weekend wrap up monday

worst part of the weekend? i did something to hurt my foot and it hurts real bad

best part of the weekend? coffee + baileys

most random part of the weekend? went to my parents house to watch Northern Lights, the made for Lifetime movie. tc and i listened to the audiobook together on a roadtrip so we were excited about the movie. the naughty scenes were kind of disgusting to watch because of the rumors about LeAnn Rimes cheating on her husband with her costar

people i saw this weekend? mom, dad, baby brother. mother in law, father and law came up for a visit as well

something i wished i did this weekend that i didn't get around to? we were supposed to go to the lakehouse, i kind of wish had gone

things that i am looking forward to this week? girls dinner with some coworkers on friday night, i am making truffles!

things that i am not looking forward to this week? end of the month, yuck!

Meal Planning

tc and i (mostly i!) meal plan almost every week with out fail. i thought i would start posting what we are having this week to give those of you out there who are looking for some new things to make some ideas. a lot of them are going to be weight watcher recipes, but don't be afraid of them. almost everyone we have tried off the website has been dang tasty.

here is what is on the plan for this week:
-last minute lasagna (5pts) we've had this before and i will say i think the tomato sauce needs seasoning, and either i don't like frozen spinach any more or i don't like spinach any more at all because i didn't like the way it tasted in here. i think next time i'll sub in some zucchini

-chicken and dumplings (4pts)

-stove top chicken this is a recipe my mom used to make, she found it on the side of a stove top box. back in the day the recipe didn't call for the veggies, so i'm not adding them in

-pizza with turkey pepperoni made on flat out bread (the mutli grain variety is only 1pt)

-beans and rice (i've been attempting to make my own beans because it seems like we eat a lot of the canned stuff, but so far i have ruined two batched. i'm giving it one more try, this time with black beans)

another sad post

i wrote this post last week and didn't post it. since then another friend's father has past away. i don't know if we are just getting to the age or what, but i don't like it

i hate writing sad posts, but it seems to be what i do best lately. no bueno.

i have been thinking about this a lot over the last couple days so i figured i would share it with all of my internet followers.

my coworker's dad died yesterday, and another coworkers dad died the day before that, and one of my good friend's dad died a couple of weeks ago. if you include the passing of my best friend's father back in november, that is 4 friends who have lost their dads in 4 months.

when my friend's dad died suddenly last november i really started becoming paranoid about my loved ones. it really struck me how terminal life really is and about how you need to appreciate every moment you have with them. i really began to make sure that no matter how annoyed i might be i always say goodbye, say i love you, and give a real kiss to tc before we go our seperate ways. i wasn't doing it thinking, "oh my God this could be the last time i see you now give me some sugar" or anything equally depressing, just conscintious about making sure that if anything were to happen i wouldn't have my last memory be a bad one.

for a while this kind of thought processes would give me little bouts of anxiety when i had too much time to think about it, but i decided to have a new outlook on it. instead of doom and gloom, really it is just appreciating the people that i have in my life. living each day to the fullest. showing how much my sweet husband means to me every chance i get.

i think this last week was especially hard with the two coworkers. it made me want to drive down to see my family and make sure they were all okay and give them lots of hugs. of course then they would think i was crazy(er)

i guess what i am trying to say it love the ones you got. make sure they know you love them.

weekend wrap up monday

i am going to start being better at posting. i am. i am. i am

so to get myself started on the new good at blogging venture i'm going to do a little q&a with myself about my weekend.

worst part of the weekend? waking up sore on sunday because i was standing/ walking almost all day on saturday

best part of the weekend? seeing two decent movies at the drive in

most random part of the weekend? getting undies that actually fit and aren't too big (i know this is difficult for some of you to believe) and being SO excited about it

people i saw this weekend? mom, dad, little brother, baby brother, and niece who is as cute as ever. also: a bunch of girl friends at a baby shower. SO fun!

something i wished i did this weekend that i didn't get around to? working out, shopping for a wedding shower that is during the week so now i have to go to bb&b tonight.

things that i am looking forward to this week? half day on friday

things that i am not looking forward to this week? tuesday. i have to weigh in and i'm pretty sure i am not going to be very happy with myself and i have an 8pm and a 9pm conference call. yuck!

hope this blog post finds you having a great day!

i would drive 100 miles...

and I would drive 100 more...

i've been meaning to post this since friday but I never got around to it. you would think i would be over it by now, but guess what, I'm not.

on friday i got off work at noon (woo hoo!). i had lunch with my man, then the plan for the rest of the afternoon was to drive my grandma around town so she could see the new baby in the family. during our trip I got a phone call from my work saying i needed to come in. here is what that phone call did to my car:

addison to dallas for lunch with tc (10.5 miles)
dallas to cedar hill to pick up mamaw (23.3 miles)
cedar hill to 75 and mockingbird (what is that part of town called, north dallas?) to see the baby (20.2 miles)
75 and mockingbird to cedar hill to return mamaw (by now it is 3:30 on friday so rush hour traffic has begun) (20.2 miles)
cedar hill to addison to return to work (this trip alone took me more than an hour) (27.1 miles)
addison to irving to finally get home (11.8 miles)

for a grand total of 113.1 miles in one afternoon.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! is pretty much how I would sum up my afternoon. i could never be a travelling salesman.

and could I relax when I got home? nope. i was making dinner for my family the next day and had to get some of the prep work done. unfortunately all the work was for not because the main course was shrimp bisque and somehow the shrimp went bad in the soup and we had to through every last bit of it away. sigh.

on a much more positive note, the cake was a huge hit which was awesome because it was VERY time consuming to make. if we had to through it away too someone would have had to lock me away, i'm quite sure of it.
