cleaning, organizing and bragging

is what I did this weekend in a nutshell.

friday: got to see my sister in law who flew in from the philippines, she made us a wonderful dinner

saturday: woke up bright and early to clean and start weekend chores. i pulled all of my jewelry out of plastic bins and organized it to look like this:

i don't have a great collection of jewelry, but i am hoping now that it is out i will wear what i have more often.

then tc and i went on a date day. we had a light lunch at pf changs, went shopping, bought this (sorry, it is a terrible picture that doesn't come close to doing the necklace justice):

which actually has a story behind it. i bought this same necklace at the tiffany's in new york city 3 years ago. it was so gorgeous, and i just loved it to pieces. unfortunately when i got home some things happened and before i even got to wear it i needed the money and had to return it. on saturday, travis came up to me and said we should go replace that necklace i had to return. it turns out, i still love it just as much! and this time i'll get to keep it!

we strolled around the mall a little bit, i bought a bunch of other stuff I "needed", we went to the bookstore, a fantastic dinner, downtown for some cookies, then home for movie watching.

today we went couch shopping which i can already tell is going to be a total beating. hopefully today will not be a good example of future shopping adventures.

all in all, i'll put a mark in the w column for this weekend. the only way it could have been better is if it were longer. oh, and if i didn't have to do my own chores

how I know the economy in Dallas is okay

-30 minute wait at p.f. changs at 2 oclock in the afternoon
-at 4pm we tried to make reservations at stephen pyles for the same evening, none until 9:30
-tried Hibiscus, none until 9:45
-finally decided on The Porch. (it was awesome!!) got right in, but it was packed by the time we left, as were all of the other places to dine surrounding it.

i think we're doing okay down here

Product Rave: Scrubbing Bubbles Mega Shower Foamer

I have a hard time getting my bathtub sparkling clean. I think it has something to do with apartment bathtubs because I had the same issue in my last place. They put in these bathtubs that have no slip bottoms for liability reasons I'm sure, but the result is bathtubs that are virtually impossible to shine. I finally found something that worked in my last apartment but of course it didn't work here.

Most of the products I used didn't work and some would work okay but would give that splotchy clean, so I was spending a ton of time scrubbing with each cleaning. The Magic Eraser has worked wonders for my new bathtub has far as getting it clean but it dissengrates before I'm done with one cleaning, it takes a lot of elbow grease, and it takes a lot of time.

Enter magic freaking foam. This stuff works awesome. I was trying to do a quick clean and so I followed the instructions: spray on, leave for two minutes, wipe off. I put about zero effort into the wiping off and it cleaned like a charm. It wasn't perfect to my standards but it was much better than any other product I had tried with a lot less work. I can't wait to see how it looks when I get the scrub brush in on the action.

So after typing out this post I realize this is what my life has come to. Getting excited about cleaning products. I hope at least someone benefits from this shame.

That's a lot of Wine, dude

My neighbor is a Korean dude, a nurse or doctor of sorts, about my age that lives by himself. He seems to be a pretty quite guy, and what I know about him is limited to what I see in the trash he leaves out. It's not like I'm digging through his trash or anything, just he leaves stacks of Korean newspapers outside on trash day, and the bags he uses are see through. Well apparently, this guy likes the vino. This morning there was a large trash bag full of Carlo Rossi wine jugs. I'm talking like 10 jugs, and those things are more than a liter of wine. Obviously if the trend continues, I need to write this stranger an intervention letter.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet

I'm a big fan of natural remedies. I like the fact that I can work on
beautification without going to the store, spending any money, or
worrying if I'm going to break out in a rash.
I'm not going to say I've even come close to trying everything out
there but I've put everything from beer to mayo on my hair and egg
whites to gelatin and milk on my face.
So when I read about using sugar as an exfoliant yesterday I figured
it would be worth a shot. The blog where i read about this made it
sound nice enough. You mix sugar with your soap and wash, with the
promise your skin would be left soft and smooth.
False. It left my skin feeling scratched and sticky. As it were I
didn't enjoy finding out what a sucker feels like.

UPDATE: the sugar did wash off just fine, so the stickiness was only until I rewashed

UPDATE #2: my skin is feeling super soft this morning so I guess it was a yucky means to a nice end
