About a month ago I went to my doctor because of a sinus infection. While I was there I decided to talk to him about a problem that I had been having with my feet. He tells me it is possible that I have neurological claudication and refers me to a Neurologist, all of which is a little overwhelming, but I’ll wait until I get home and look it up before I get scared.
What ended up happening should be a lesson to all of us in not Googling medical ailments. Googling by the way, I just found out, is not found in Microsoft’s dictionary, they should really look into that. After calling the doctor’s office to find out what he told me I might have because Lord knows I couldn’t remember, I looked it up and it was much scarier that I was giving it credit for. I found out things like: It should only be happening in old people who are too sick to do anything about it, the only fix is surgery, and all other sorts of news I didn’t want.
Today I went to the Neurologist and after a lot of tests that made me think the doctor thought I was drunk (follow my finger, walk in a straight line, close your eyes and hold your hands out, etc) he tells me that I do not have neurological claudication (whew!) but that I might have tarsal tunnel which is basically like carpal tunnel, but in your feet. Thank goodness, right? I don’t have to have surgery so this is a good thing, right? Wrong! He tells me no more high heels so the nerves can heel. I JUST got used to walking in 3 inchers!! Oh and I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and maybe sleep apnea by the way.
Sheesh!
